Emmer's Birthday Party!

She helped make her own cake...and she frosted it...mostly herself!
It was VERY CHERRY pink frosting!
Her favorite and only brother lovingly shook sprinkles all over her cake.
The happy five year old girl blew out all her candles...with very minimal spitting!
The cake tasted GREAT!!!
Thank you Grams for the many gifts...the coloring books, stickers and ALL!
Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Wells...for the many butterfly things...and the Dora things too! This little pencil case gets carted everywhere!

Nana and Papa got them nifty watches...with changeable faces.

It was a fun day for the now FIVE year old girl!!

Home again, Home again!

Phew...I'm tired and our house looks like it exploded! HA! Over the next few days I'll attempt to upload and share many vacation funtimes.

Here is Emmer-bean's birthday party! Notice the sweetpeas in her party hat. The girl has a taste of flare!
We did PINK and butterflies for her birthday...and we'd bought her new wings...and then her grandparents got her matching antenna! Too cute...and we didn't even plan it that way. She's cute as a bug! Har har!
Lubby was NOT interested in wetting himself in the lake. Nope...so he fished from the dock like a little man!
Emma turns into a complete blinding blur in all these pictures. No matter what I do...she's that white spot on the lake! HA!
We ate LOTS of fabulous produce from my Grand Uncle's garden. Thanks for sharing! I love this picture of the kids running!

Happy Birthday Sweet Emma!

Running to make discoveries!!

We got these magnifying glasses awhile back. Today (one of the most hot and humid on record)...they wanted to go on a walk. The catalyst for this science walk was our buying two new field guides for our upcoming vacation. We got a guide to Wildflowers and Trees/Shrubs...to go with our bird guide. We are nerds...and we love it!!
They saw lots of ants...always good fun to watch!
Emmer-bean has really figured out how it works...to magnify. Lubby looks through it but VERY quickly and then he's off to the next thing!
Tons of cicadas...dead or shells to look at! Too cool...ewww!
Pine needles up close are neat too! They were intrigued by the birds living in the trees. Lubby said, "Don't dey poke der wings?" Hahaha! I told him they are very good fliers...and that the pine needles probably keep other animals away so the birds are safe!

So, what do you do on rainy days?

First Official Sleep Over...

This past weekend some sweet friends took our kids for a sleep over. I'm not sure who had more fun...

...they had a picnic in the park, set up a tent in their living room and had pancakes for breakfast.

...we had a romantic Thai dinner, cheesecake for dessert, a long, leisurely walk and slept way in!
