Marriage Monday...

"The Grace of Christian Marriage"

As I was thinking through this topic, I asked my husband to define grace for me. He said, "it's undeserved favor." I like that definition. I've also heard it referred to as unmerited favor...God's sufficiency...God's fullness. As Christians we realize that God's grace is indeed undeserved. "Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound...that saved a wretch like me." But not only are we saved by the grace of God--we also serve the Lord and live the Christian life by the grace of God. Because we realize how important God's grace is to us...and hopefully being humbled by this thought...we bring that grace into our marriages.

1 Pet. 4:8, "Love deeply because love covers a multitude of sins...vs. 10 administering God's grace in its various forms." I was drawn into this passage and back tracked to chapter three. There it talks about a wife's conduct being

...pure and reverent

...submissive

...compassionate

...humble

...able to live in harmony

...returning insult with blessing!

Wow...that's pretty challenging stuff. So, how do those things play out in my Christian marriage?

Well, I've got a lot to work on but by God's grace...

I'm still working at it

...for His Glory!

Trick or Treat? Yes!!

Mr. Pumpkin Head and Little Red Riding Hood (who didn't have a hood...yes, yes I know)...sat pretty for this picture!
They were hard to catch once they were standing...as I'm sure you've noticed!
Mr. Pumpkin Head and his pumpkin head! He wouldn't let anyone hold it for him. So cute and stubborn!!!

Daddy leading them over to "our across the street" neighbors. They only went to a few close houses. Short legs don't go far! HA! No, not mine!! Very funny!

We gave Caleb a sucker before taking off his outfit. Bad idea...notice the drool down his sleeve to his elbow.
Once we took it off we realized the drool went all the way to his bellybutton! Oh, my!

Little Red enjoying her treat while watching "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" again!

Here's the Pooh Bear costume I got her that she wouldn't wear. Yup, as soon as we got home she donned this costume to hand out candy to the other kids. Go figure. Personally, I think the riding hood outfit was cuter anyway!

SuperWoman and the Bowling Pears...

Today was an extremely productive day. Funny, I didn't think I'd get so much done. I find that when I plan to do tons...I get very little done. However, when I don't plan...I often get tons done...and everyone is still happy! There's a lesson there...hmmm?

Today I went to Bible Study(started laundry before I left)
--continued doing laundry through lunch and nap time
--watched DVD I'd missed during Bible Study cuz I was in childcare
--talked to my Dad and Mom briefly
--Read Emma her 10 library books
--stripped and remade Caleb's bed after his party of milk dancing (long story and lesson in no milk in bed)
--Raked entire backyard
--made dinner
--set table
--cleaned up kitchen
--helped rake leaves onto tarp and to curb
--helped bathe babies
--watched "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" with popcorn and boobahs
--stuffed treat bags for tomorrow's beggars
--put away laundry upstairs
--and snuggled some with hubby on couch!

WOW....and I'm still blogging! God is good, all the time....All the time, God is good!

Emma loves to ride on the tarp...even though she gets completely covered with leaves.
Caleb preferred to play it safe and tottle along behind!

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE BOWLING PEARS YOU ASK????
I got a bunch of pears from my friend Amy! Her Mom's tree was loaded and they decided to shake them down before the big frosts this week. Just the thought of the two of them shaking the tree makes me snicker to myself. AND her husband climbing up into the tree and shaking it some more...hahahaha!
Anyhew, there are ALOT of them...and they are hard as rocks and mostly green. The yellower ones are ripening in bags. The few ripe ones were yummo so stay tuned for recipes.
I know, I know...the bowling...well, I had to do something to keep them occupied during dinner prep. Emma thought she wanted to eat one...then she decided they were hard and gave a few to Caleb. They laughed hysterically while bowling them along the floors! Hey, at dinner time...as long as no one is crying...I don't care what they bowl with...well, I think!

Pumpkin Carving...

Last night we carved the DadE pumpkin!

Emma is telling me that it is yuckEEEE. Caleb is fascinated with the slime!

Isn't DadE pumpkin cute?

Ooooo...he glows!
We roasted the seeds...after soaking them in salt brine (thanks Grandpa for the tip). Yum!
Tonight we will color the MomE, EmmE, and CalubbE pumpkins!

Little Darreny...

Just for fun...we put Darren's glasses on Caleb. He already looks like Daddy but the glasses really made it funny! Doesn't he look so smart?

Emma said that she wants glasses...we told her that she'll probably have them someday...cuz both MomE and DadE are blind as bats without them! Hahaha! Gotta love heredity!
