Poem facelift...

As I'm sure many people do, I subscribe to Real Simple magazine. I enjoy it for its price comparisons, fashions, gardening, etc. Overall, a magazine I enjoy. They always have a "simple list" in the front of each month with odds and ends of info. For April this included a poem by Maya Angelou that I found ludicrous. I can't come up with the right word for it...dispairing...wrong...lost...celebrity wisdom...

When we come to it/
We must confess that
we are the possible/
We are the miraculous,
the true wonders
of this world/
That is when,
and only when/
We come to it.

by Maya Angelou

I decided to rewrite it because it bothered me so here it goes....

When we come to it/
We must confess that
Jesus Christ is Lord/
We are His miraculous image bearers,
we truly wonder at the Creation
of His world/
That is when,
and only when/
We come to Truth.

by Roberta Wells

It helps that it didn't rhyme to begin with--ha ha! Maybe I should try writing poetry like this--such as it is...ucky!

I love that! You are a poet and you didn't even know it!

I think your version is much better than Maya's. Keep it up! - SE
